The 2020 City-Wide Preservation Bake-Off Winner
When a few of our NYC colleagues suggested doing a preservation bake-off, the League was thrilled to jump on board. Who doesn’t love some festive baking, especially this time of year? Along with with The New York Landmarks Conservancy, Village Preservation, The Municipal Art Society of New York, Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts, LANDMARK WEST!, and Historic Districts Council, we put the call out for folks around New York to show off their building bakes. Each organization’s winner then went head-to-head and an esteemed group of judges selected the overall winner.
Many congratulations go out to Bill Schutz of Creative Cakes for his recreation of the Customs House!

And here are the runners-up:
Liz Waytkus, ED of Docomomo US, submitted her cake version of the Whitney Museum by Marcel Breuer to our colleagues at Historic Districts Council.
The New York Landmarks Conservancy’s winner was this gingerbread Brooklyn Bridge created by Gillian Weeks (The Baking Branch), her daughter Greta, Adam Richards, and Lindsey Bristol.
And of course, this crown featuring NYC landmarks created by Pooky Amsterdam of Pooky Studio was the winning entry from the Preservation League.
Thanks to the panel of experts who judged all the winning entries to select this year’s Preservation Bake-Off champion: baker Fany Gerson; Eric Haugen, chef at the Lambs Club; and architects Liz Diller and Pamela Jerome. And thanks to all of our colleagues for organizing the 2020 Great Preservation Holiday Bake-Off!
