Seven to Save-Listed New York Amsterdam News Featured by News7 LOCALish

The Amsterdam News has been committed to empowering the Black and Brown community through fearless journalism and innovative storytelling for its entire 100-plus-year history. The Harlem building the newspaper has been based out of since 1940 has provided a stable homebase for the paper and the people behind it. As the NY Amsterdam News team, led by Publisher Elinor Tatum, look to the future, they are reimagining what the paper can be and how best to use their building to support the community — and welcome the public in.

The League has included the New York Amsterdam News HQ Building on our 2025-2026 Seven to Save list, acknowledging how important this place is, both as a link to the past and in its potential for the future. The nonprofit New York Amsterdam News Educational Foundation is focused on converting this iconic institution into a public gathering place and museum.
