Lessons from Lee: Year-End Giving
Did you see Jay’s year-end letter about the impact of your gifts to the League? In it, he tells the story of a couple who are reviving a theater in downtown Utica.
If you haven’t already, I hope you will join me in making a generous gift to the League before December 31. This is a great way to support the League and take advantage of any tax benefits you may qualify for this year. And it feels good to support such a wonderful organization!
It’s easy to make a gift. Here’s how:
Make a Gift Online
A secure, online gift is the easiest and most reliable way to ensure your end-of-year gift is on time. Online gifts must be made by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 31. To make your online gift, click here.
If you want to use your credit card but are uncomfortable making an online gift, please call 518.462.5658 x13 before noon on December 31 and we will be happy to accept and process your gift.
Mail a Check
If you are mailing a check and want to get credit for a 2021 contribution, it should have a 2021 postmark. To be safe, we recommend putting your gift in the mail no later than December 28.
Make a Gift Through Your IRA
If you are giving directly from your Individual Retirement Account through a qualified charitable distribution, please have your IRA plan administrator mail a check to:
Preservation League of NYS
44 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206
Attn: Jay DiLorenzo
(I wrote about this in last month’s “Lessons from Lee.”)
Transfer of Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds and Other Marketable Securities
The League is happy to accept gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other assets. You may accrue tax advantages for donating appreciated securities. For instructions on how to transfer these marketable securities please click here.
If you have any questions or need assistance, give the League a call at 518.462.5658 x19 or 518.653.7571. Our Development Director, Betsy Gramkow, will be happy to help.
Thank you, and best wishes for a very joyous holiday season.
